CISCO Lab Columbia, MD

KTA was contracted for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering for the new Cisco Lab located in Columbia, Maryland. The project consists of 10,000 square feet of computer rack environment and associated support space. The mechanical design consists of two 500 ton air-cooled chillers and a duplex pump package located on the roof of the building. Upflow – ducted Computer Room Air Handling Units are located in the rack spaces with N+1 redundancy. Humidity control and ventilation are provided by custom outside air units with N+1 redundancy. A dedicated control system provides for control and monitoring of the HVAC equipment as well as monitoring and metering of the electrical equipment.
The electrical design consists of two new 2.5 Megawatt utility services from Baltimore Gas and Electric. Each service is backed up by a diesel-fueled 2.5 MW generator. The new HVAC system and five 750 KVA Uninterruptible Power Supplies are fed from the new emergency distribution system. One UPS contains a redundant module to provide additional reliability.
